30. Talking About the Weather: Story
Phil is a groundhog. (1) He lives in Pennsylvania.  Phil has problems with his allergies. (2) They’re bad when temperatures climb. (3)

This winter (4) the region has changed a lot. (5) It’s been warm and cold several times. (6)

Sometimes (7) it’s sunny and warm then suddenly (8) it’s windy, freezing, and very cold. Once there was even a blizzard! (9)

The forecast (10) for today says it’s going to be rainy with a possibility of thunderstorms.

This is the worst (11) for Phil! He feels (12) that he needs a vacation just to get away (13) and relieve (14) his allergies.

At the airport Phil meets (15) Dr. Blair. He is a specialist in allergies. Dr. Blair explains to Phil that when it gets warm, (16) then cold, then warm, then cold lots of people start feeling  (17) congestion.
 

Phil flies (18) to Bermuda where it’s sunny and warm. In Bermuda he has no problems with his allergies.

He’d stay (19) but he has an assignment every (20) February 2nd  back (21) in
Pennsylvania.

Phil is a groundhog. (1) He is has problems with his allergies. (2) Phil thinks it has to do with climate change. (3)

 His allergies get bad (4) when temperatures change (5) a lot. This has happened several times this year. (6)

Sometimes (7) it’s sunny and warm then suddenly (8) it’s windy, freezing, and very cold.

Once there was even (9) a blizzard! There has been (10) much more snow than usual.

The forecast (11) for today says it’s going to be rainy with a possibility of thunderstorms.

Phil feels (12) that he needs to go on vacation just to get away (13) and relieve (14) his allergies.

At the airport Phil meets (15) Dr. Blair who is a specialist in allergies. Dr. Blair explains to Phil that fluctuating weather causes congestion.

Phil flies (16) to Bermuda. It’s sunny and warm there. The weather is so good there Phil forgets about (17) his allergies and the bad weather in Pennsylvania.

Phil would stay (18) but he knows everyone is counting on him to forecast spring (19) on February 2nd in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania.

Brandon is a seagull. (1) He’s having some problems. Sometimes (2) he’s upset, sometimes he’s sad, sometimes he’s nervous, and sometimes he’s confused.

Brandon talks with (3) his friend Scott about his moods. (4) Scott says Brandon must be (5) tired and asks if he feels sleepy. Scott suggests (6) Brandon sleep more. (7)

Brandon talks with his friend Alice. Alice says that he seems (8) confused and unhappy. She asks him if he feels anxious. She suggests (9) that he take some time off. (10)

Suddenly (11) Brandon feels hungry and thirsty. He eats a cookie (12) and drinks some (13) lemonade. He turns on (14) the radio and listens to (15) some happy music.

Now (16) he’s not confused, or unhappy. He’s excited because he feels much better. (17) Everything is fantastic! (18) Eating helps! (19)
