8. At the Post Office: Story
Sam lives in Brooklyn, New York. His brother Henry lives in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Henry wants Sam to send him his stamp album.

Sam packs (1) the album in a box (2). He takes (3) the package to his local post office to mail.

The clerk weighs (4) the package. It weighs 432 pounds and 11 ounces.

Sam needs to send it overnight because (5) Henry wants the album right away (6).

There are many different types of mail service: registered mail, first class mail, express mail, priority mail, and etcetera.

Sam is confused. He decides to send the package COD. He doesn’t know what COD means. (7)

When the package arrives (8) in Harrisburg, Henry goes to the post office to pick it up.

Henry has to pay (9) $11,213.26! Henry is angry (10). He phones Sam. He tells Sam that he has the package, but that he’s not happy.

COD means “collect on delivery”. (11) Henry tells Sam that he should have sent him just (12) the one stamp he wanted in an envelope. That costs (13) only forty-nine cents!
