36. Opening a Checking Account: Story
Ruth is a penguin. She lives in Columbus, Ohio. She just received (1) a big check from the North American Penguin Society. She decides to cash it. (2)

In the bank, Ruth needs to open an account. That’s okay; she’s always wanted (3) to have her own (4) checking account and a debit card.

The bank teller asks her for her (5) documents. Ruth shows him (6) her driver’s license. (7)

Ruth deposits most (8) of her check in her new checking and savings accounts. She takes a few (9) dollars cash.

Ruth’s very pleased (10) to have her own debit card. Now she will be able to (11) withdraw money when she needs it by using an ATM, her new card, and her PIN.

The only thing that worries her (12) is that she will run out (13) of money before she gets (14) another $700,000 check from NAPS next week. (15)
